The Tono-Pen AVIA® Vet™ Tonometer provides an easy & simple solution to diagnose and monitor glaucoma, especially in small animals. This tonometer accurately measures IOP (intraocular pressure) on animal patients, which is painless, and reduces anxiety and discomfort for the patient. The Tono-Pen AVIA® Vet™ is perfect for quick and easy use by veterinary practitioners, ophthalmologists and other veterinary medical personnel.
How Does It Work?
This non-contact tonometry disperses a brief puff of air pressure to the patient's eye (cornea). The digital screen records and measures the pressure in the eye.
What Is Glaucoma?
Glaucoma is a common eye condition where the optic nerve, which connects the eye to the brain, becomes damaged. Over 40 breeds of dogs and cats possess a predisposition to Glaucoma.
The signs of glaucoma can be subtle and mimic other eye diseases; squinting, prominent nictitans, redness, a cloudy cornea,
excess tearing, a dilated pupil or vision loss. Glaucoma, increased IOP, can rapidly destroy the vision by damaging the optic nerve.
